  • 1 cup Tomato Sauce Can use crushed tomatoes as an alternative
  • 1 can Diced Tomatoes Drained
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning Or use single herbs like oregano and basil
  • to taste Salt and Black Pepper For seasoning
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese Can substitute with gouda or pepper jack
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil Or use vegetable or canola oil
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley Chopped, for garnish
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Extra Cheese For a gooey topping

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash and slice off the tops of the bell peppers, removing seeds and membranes.
  3. In a skillet, warm olive oil and sauté chopped onions and minced garlic for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in rice, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Stuff the prepared peppers with the filling firmly.
  7. Arrange the peppers in a baking dish and add 1/4 inch of water at the bottom.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 35 minutes.
  9. Remove foil, add cheese on top, and bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes until cheese is golden.
  10. Allow to cool slightly, garnish with parsley, and serve.
