Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add 8 ounces of sliced mushrooms and sauté for 8-10 minutes until browned and tender.
  2. Lower the heat and stir in 2 minced garlic cloves. Cook for an additional minute until fragrant. Then, add 8 ounces of softened cream cheese and ½ cup of sour cream, stirring until melted and combined.
  3. Gently fold in half of the 1 cup of shredded mozzarella and ¼ cup of grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until the cheeses melt together.
  4. Transfer the mixture into an oven-safe dish, sprinkle the remaining mozzarella on top, and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  5. After baking, let the dip cool slightly, then garnish with freshly chopped thyme or parsley and serve hot with dippers.
