Ingredients

For the Base
  • 1.5 lbs chicken breast The main protein; chicken thighs also provide a richer flavor
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Opt for homemade or store-bought
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth Use vegetable broth for a vegetarian version
  • olive oil spray Prevents sticking; cooking spray is a great alternative
For the Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder A flavor enhancer; fresh garlic offers a sharper taste
  • 1 teaspoon onion granules Contributes savory depth; fresh onion can be a substitution
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning mix An aromatic blend of herbs; fresh herbs bring enhanced flavor
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika Provides mild heat and color; smoked paprika can replace it
  • 0.25 teaspoon red chili flakes Adds heat; omit for a milder dish or increase for more spice
For the Filling
  • 1 lb cheese tortellini The heart of the dish; frozen tortellini absorbs flavors beautifully
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded Adds creaminess; part-skim can be a lower-fat option
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream Richness at its finest; swap with half-and-half for a lighter version
  • 2 cups baby spinach Nutritional boost and color; kale can also work as an option
  • 0.33 cup Parmesan cheese, grated The perfect finishing touch for flavor; nutritional yeast is a great vegan substitute
