Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of warm water with 1 tablespoon of sugar. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast on top and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 4 cloves of minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of dried mixed herbs, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 2½ cups of all-purpose flour. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 6-8 minutes, incorporating ½ cup of grated Parmesan cheese halfway through.
  4. Form the kneaded dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour.
  5. Gently punch down the dough, divide it into three pieces, roll into ropes, and braid together.
  6. Place the braided loaf on a parchment-lined baking sheet, covering it loosely and allowing it to rise for 30-40 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Brush the loaf with melted butter and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let the bread cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving warm.
