Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into chunks, then place in a pot and cover with cold water and a pinch of salt.
  2. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat and boil the sweet potatoes for 15-20 minutes until fork-tender.
  3. Drain the sweet potatoes and let them steam in a colander for a few minutes.
  4. Transfer the sweet potatoes to a bowl and mash until smooth with a ricer or masher.
  5. Warm the butter and half-and-half in a saucepan, then mix into the mashed sweet potatoes until combined.
  6. Season with salt and pepper, adjusting to taste.
  7. Garnish with cinnamon and fresh herbs before serving.
