  • 1 pound Ground Beef or lamb or turkey
  • 1 Onion or shallots
  • 2 cloves Garlic fresh or garlic powder
  • 2 Carrots or celery
  • 2 tablespoons Flour or cornstarch for gluten-free
  • 1 cup Beef Broth or vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce or soy sauce
  • to taste Salt & Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme or oregano or rosemary
For the Crust
  • 1 egg Egg (for wash) or plant-based milk

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and roll out your pie crust into a pie plate, allowing edges to hang over.
  2. In a skillet, heat oil and brown the ground beef for 5-7 minutes. Add onions, garlic, and carrots; sauté for another 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in flour, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme, then let it simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly, then roll out the top crust.
  5. Pour the filling into the crust, cover with the top crust, pressing edges to seal, and cut slits for steam.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the crust is golden brown, then cover edges with foil if they brown too quickly.
  7. Let the pie rest for 10 minutes before serving warm, optionally with a salad or soup.
