Step-by-Step Instructions for Crispy Japanese Gyoza Dumplings
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, finely chopped green onions, shredded cabbage, minced garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Take a wonton wrapper and spoon a generous amount of the filling into the center. Wet the edges with water, fold over to create a half-moon shape and press edges together to seal.
  3. Lay the filled dumplings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper without touching each other.
  4. In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the gyoza in a single layer and fry for about 3 minutes until bottoms are golden brown and crispy.
  5. Add about ¼ cup of water to the skillet and cover with a lid. Allow to steam for 3-4 minutes until filling is cooked through.
  6. Transfer the cooked gyoza to a serving plate. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Fresh meat and vegetables lead to the best flavors for gyoza. Avoid overfilling wrappers to prevent bursting during cooking.
