Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a baking rack on top.
- In a small mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, water, black pepper, and optional cayenne pepper until blended.
- Lay bacon strips on the prepared rack and brush both sides with the sugar mixture. Optional: sprinkle with red pepper flakes.
- Bake the bacon for 15 minutes, flip, and bake for another 10-15 minutes until crispy and caramelized.
- Transfer bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to cool.
- Increase oven temperature to 425°F (218°C). Slice baguette and brush with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and bake for 7-10 minutes.
- On a serving dish, place goat cheese log in the center, break cooled bacon into pieces and press into cheese, finishing with a drizzle of syrup.
