Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. Sprinkle garlic powder and Italian seasoning over the buttered sides.
  2. Spread marinara sauce on the unbuttered sides of two slices of bread. Layer with mozzarella, Parmesan, turkey pepperoni, and any additional toppings.
  3. Place the remaining slices of bread on top, buttered sides up, to form the sandwiches.
  4. Preheat a skillet over medium-low heat and place the sandwiches in the skillet. Press down gently.
  5. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown and crispy, then flip and repeat.
  6. After flipping, press down while cooking for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is bubbling.
  7. Remove from skillet, cool for a minute, slice in half, and garnish with chopped basil. Serve with extra marinara sauce.

Notes

Cooking at medium-low heat is crucial for cheese melting without burning the bread. Use a moderate amount of marinara to prevent sogginess.
