Ingredients

For the Brownie Base
  • 1 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder Ghirardelli or Hershey’s work best.
  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar Feel free to substitute with alternative sweeteners if desired.
  • 1 cup Butter Use plant-based butter for a dairy-free version.
  • 4 large Eggs Potential egg replacements exist for a vegan option.
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour Swap with gluten-free flour for gluten-free options.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
For the Topping
  • 2 cups Marshmallows Use fresh ones for ideal melting results or vegan marshmallows for plant-based needs.
  • 1 cup Orange Candy Melts If unavailable, melted white chocolate with orange food coloring is an alternative.
  • 1 cup Candy Eyes or Chocolate Chips Optional, but highly recommended for playful decoration.

Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Mixing Bowl
  • microwave-safe bowl

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl, combine unsweetened cocoa powder, granulated sugar, melted butter, eggs, all-purpose flour, and salt. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  2. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly into the corners. Bake in your preheated oven for about 30 minutes.
  3. Once the brownies are baked, remove them from the oven and immediately top with an even layer of marshmallows. Return the brownies to the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes.
  4. After the marshmallows are perfectly melted, let the brownies cool slightly before decorating. Melt your orange candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals until smooth.
  5. While the orange candy melt drizzle is still slightly warm, add candy eyes or chocolate chips to bring your jack-o’-lanterns to life!
  6. Allow the brownies to cool completely at room temperature before slicing them into squares.
