Step-by-Step Instructions for General Tso Sauce
  1. Slice the chicken thighs and marinate with the egg, cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper for 15-30 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  3. Fry the marinated chicken in batches for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Mix together the sauce ingredients: soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, hoisin, broth, and cornstarch.
  5. Sauté ginger and garlic in the skillet until fragrant.
  6. Add the sauce mixture to the skillet and simmer until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Stir in red pepper flakes to taste.
  8. Toss the fried chicken in the sauce to coat.
  9. Let simmer in the sauce for another 1-2 minutes, then garnish and serve.
