For Toppings
  • 4 slices Swiss Cheese Sharp cheddar or gouda can be used.
  • 1 cup Sauerkraut Drain well to prevent sogginess.
  • 1 cup Crispy Fried Onions Can substitute with fresh caramelized onions.
For the Buns
  • 4 buns Pretzel Buns Brioche or whole-wheat buns can be substituted.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, salt, black pepper, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Divide mixture into four equal portions and form into patties about ¾ inch thick. Make a thumb indent in the center of each patty.
  3. Preheat grill or skillet over medium heat. Lightly oil the surface and cook patties for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and cover to melt.
  5. Toast the pretzel buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden and crispy.
  6. Assemble burgers by placing a cheesy patty on the bottom half of each bun, topping with sauerkraut and crispy onions. Optionally drizzle with extra maple syrup or mustard before topping.
